Safety & Compliance
How we ensure every contractor on Landoro meets UK safety standards, holds the right qualifications, and carries valid insurance.
Why Compliance Matters
In the UK, certain types of home services work are legally regulated. Electrical installations, gas work, and some plumbing work must be carried out by appropriately qualified and registered professionals.
Hiring someone who isn't properly registered can result in unsafe work, invalid certificates, voided home insurance, and legal liability for the homeowner. Landoro exists to remove that risk.
Recognised Schemes We Verify Against
When a contractor joins Landoro, we check their membership of the relevant industry schemes.
Gas Safe Register
The only official register for gas engineers in the UK. It is illegal for anyone to carry out gas work without being Gas Safe registered.
NICEIC
The UK's leading voluntary regulatory body for the electrical contracting industry. NICEIC-registered electricians are assessed to meet required technical standards.
NAPIT
A major certification body for electricians, plumbers, and heating engineers. NAPIT members are assessed to the same technical standards for Part P compliance.
TrustMark
A government-endorsed quality scheme covering work in and around the home. TrustMark registered businesses operate to government-endorsed standards.
Public Liability Insurance
All contractors on Landoro must hold valid public liability insurance. This protects you if a tradesperson accidentally causes damage to your property.
Companies House
For limited company contractors, we cross-reference their details against Companies House records to confirm the business is registered, active, and legitimate.
What This Means for You
When you book through Landoro, you can be confident that:
- Gas engineers are Gas Safe registered and legally qualified to work on gas appliances in your home
- Electricians hold NICEIC or NAPIT registration and can self-certify electrical work under Part P
- All contractors carry valid public liability insurance covering work at your property
- Certificates issued (EICRs, gas safety certificates, etc.) will be legally valid and compliant
- No credential checks needed — we've already done it
Tip for Homeowners
Even though we verify contractors, we encourage homeowners to check the relevant register themselves. Verify Gas Safe engineers at gassaferegister.co.uk and NICEIC contractors at niceic.com.
Ongoing Monitoring
Verification isn't a one-off event. We continuously monitor compliance across the platform.
- Insurance renewal dates are tracked — contractors are suspended if cover lapses
- Gas Safe and NICEIC registrations are monitored for expiry
- Homeowner feedback is reviewed for any safety-related concerns
- Repeated compliance issues result in removal from the platform
